Green Smoothies

Well, today was my first Green Smoothie Day in a while. I started making and drinking Green Smoothies about 20 years ago and increased my health significantly. Since that time, I have found Green Smoothies that actually taste GOOD and still pack a powerful punch. My smoothie today was:

2 c Kale (I like the dark green lacy kind and full of chlorophyl and protein)
2 c Romain Lettuce (nice greens and not too strong flavor)
1 large Cucumber (It's great for detoxing the liver)
I large Fuji Apple (Not too sweet and so it is lower on the glycemic index)
1-2 c frozen or fresh Mango ( prevents cancer, cholesterol and improves eyesight)
1/2 c frozen or fresh Blueberries (great anti-oxidant)
2 c Water to desired thickness, or 1 c water and 2 c Ice if you used fresh Mango and Blueberries

I always strip the Kale lace from the stems.
I cut the Romain down to where the green turns yellow or white.
I never peel the Cucumbers but I like to cut them up and remove the ends
I usually cut away the Apple core, but you don't have to.
Please, wash your vegetables and fruits before blending.

Put all into a Vitamix or Blendtec type blender on a low setting and turn up the speed as the chunkier parts disappear.

Now, add 1-2 drops of doTerra Cassia or Cinnamon Oil  for those looking to reduce cholesterol!

You will have enough for 1-3 days. Refrigerate, or freeze the extra (if you like). You will lose some of the nutritional value when either freezing or refrigerating, but you will retain a great deal of it.
